The Instructor
Kristin Mitchell
Masters in Geology
Kristin received a Master of Science degree in Geology from State University of New York at Albany in 1990. Her focus then was on plate tectonics and her master's thesis focused on the Josephine Ophiolite.
Ophiolites are of special interest to geologists because they provide an above water laboratory to study oceanic crust and are a strong indicator of plate tectonics.
Passionate about Minerals &
Rocks!
Kristin has a passion for helping people of all ages understand what lies below their feet. Underneath the pavement, grass and soil, there is a world of rocks that are just waiting to be explored. She particularly is interested in helping students understand the geology of Northeast Wisconsin and the importance of the Niagara Escarpment.
50+ Year Mineral & Rock Collection
Kristin has a Master of Science degree in Geology and has been collecting rocks for over 50 years.
