Classroom Expectations
GeoRockStars offers classes for homeschool students wishing to expand their understanding of Geology and related sciences. The instructor will provide a classroom that creates an atmosphere for learning where each student gets individual attention. For an effective atmosphere of learning, each student must also contribute their best self to each session of learning either in the classroom or on field trips. Students and parents that choose to participate in a GeoRockStars class or field trip agree to act in a manner that positively represents themselves, class and community. Below is a list of expectations for the classroom and field trips. Please share these expectations with your student. Then sign and have your student sign the agreement on the back side of this sheet. Thank you for making our classroom one of learning for everyone.
As a student I will….
BE PREPARED
Come to class ready to learn and be my best self
Arrive on time (there is lots to learn)
Have materials ready for class
Be ready to focus for the class; leave my phone at home or put away during class
BE PRODUCTIVE
Participate in class and groups projects
Ask questions
BE POSITIVE
Have a can do attitude
No negativity
BE POLITE
Raise my hand when I need help, answer or ask a question
Listen and follow all directions. This is extremely important on field trips. This means no talking when information is being given by instructor or other students
BE RESPECTFUL
Treat everyone (including yourself) with respect
Control my body language; no touching other students
Give others the opportunity to learn; do not disrupt the classroom
Use appropriate language; no inappropriate language will be tolerated
Work together while working in groups; let everyone participate
Take care of classroom materials (rock samples, hardness kits, hand lenses, tables, chairs and other materials)
Clean up your area at the end of class and put materials away.
Remember to be your BEST SELF in the classroom or out in the field!
If these expectations are not met the instructor will:
Redirect the behavior so the student comes into compliance with the expectation.
Discuss the behavior with parent or guardian
After two infractions, ask the parent to attend the class with their student. If behavior continues, reserve the right to remove the student from the class without a refund.
